{"id":10290,"date":"2012-01-10T23:40:40","date_gmt":"2012-01-10T23:40:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/theredphoenixapl.org\/?p=10290"},"modified":"2026-04-23T23:30:34","modified_gmt":"2026-04-24T04:30:34","slug":"obama-to-send-us-troops-to-south-sudan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/redphoenix.news\/es\/2012\/01\/obama-to-send-us-troops-to-south-sudan\/","title":{"rendered":"Obama to Send US Troops to South Sudan"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/redphoenixnews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/south_sudan_118603779_620x350.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-10291\" title=\"South_Sudan_118603779_620x350\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/redphoenixnews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/south_sudan_118603779_620x350.jpg?resize=490%2C276\" alt=\"\" width=\"490\" height=\"276\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color:#000000;\"><strong>Troops Sent Over &#8216;Recent Outbreaks of Violence&#8217;<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"color:#000000;\"><em>by Jason Ditz, January 10, 2012<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#000000;\">Citing recent ethnic violence and with the apparent certainty that every nation on the planet needs at least a few US boots on the ground, President Obama has announced his intention to<\/span> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.boston.com\/news\/nation\/washington\/articles\/2012\/01\/10\/obama_sending_5_us_military_officers_to_s_sudan\/\">send troops to the Republic of South Sudan to help the new government with \u201cstrategic planning.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#000000;\">The deployment, which will only include five troops so far, comes<\/span> <a href=\"http:\/\/news.antiwar.com\/2012\/01\/06\/county-commissioner-over-3000-slain-in-south-sudan-massacre\/\">after a report of a massacre<\/a> <span style=\"color:#000000;\">was refuted by the United Nations, and also as South Sudan continues to accuse the Sudanese government of preventing it from shipping oil more efficiently.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#000000;\">It also comes just days after President Obama announced his<\/span> <a href=\"http:\/\/news.antiwar.com\/2012\/01\/08\/us-eyes-arms-sales-to-south-sudan\/\">intention to sell weapons to the South Sudanese government<\/a><span style=\"color:#000000;\">\u2018s \u201cPeople\u2019s Liberation Army\u201d saying that the sales would be a key to \u201cworld peace.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#000000;\">South Sudan\u2019s independence from the north was finalized in July, and the indications from this week suggest they are well on their way to being a modern US client state, complete with massive internal unrest and US deployments of \u201cadvisors.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/news.antiwar.com\/2012\/01\/10\/obama-to-send-us-troops-to-south-sudan\/\">Fuente<\/a><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Troops Sent Over &#8216;Recent Outbreaks of Violence&#8217;
