{"id":10839,"date":"2012-02-12T10:28:49","date_gmt":"2012-02-12T15:28:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/theredphoenix.wordpress.com\/?p=10839"},"modified":"2026-04-22T09:38:57","modified_gmt":"2026-04-22T14:38:57","slug":"hackers-target-cia-mexican-alabama-websites","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/redphoenix.news\/es\/2012\/02\/hackers-target-cia-mexican-alabama-websites\/","title":{"rendered":"Hackers target CIA, Mexican, Alabama websites"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color:#000000;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/redphoenixnews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/cia-logo.jpg\"><span style=\"color:#000000;\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-10840\" title=\"CIA-logo\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/redphoenixnews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/cia-logo.jpg?resize=400%2C400\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"400\" \/><\/span><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#000000;\">Websites affiliated with the CIA, Mexico&#8217;s mining ministry and the state of Alabama were down Friday, allegedly done in by hackers, government officials and a well-known hacking group reported.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#000000;\">A message Friday on a Twitter page and Tumblr feed affiliated with the hacking group known as Anonymous celebrated that the Central Intelligence Agency&#8217;s website had been taken down.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#000000;\">The posting read: &#8220;CIA TANGO DOWN: <span style=\"color:#0000ff;\">https:\/\/www.cia.gov\/ #Anonymous<\/span>.&#8221; A later one pointed to a news story indicating &#8220;#Anonymous hackers hit CIA, U.N., Mexico websites.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#000000;\">Numerous outside reports indicated the CIA&#8217;s website was down, and CNN&#8217;s attempts from late Friday afternoon into the evening to get onto the site failed.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#000000;\">Asked about the outage, CIA spokeswoman Jennifer Youngblood said Friday night, &#8220;We are aware of the problems accessing our website, and are working to resolve them.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#000000;\">Who is Anonymous? Everyone and no one<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#000000;\">Additionally, information was &#8220;compromised&#8221; in a hacking of Alabama state websites, the Alabama Department of Homeland Security said in a news release.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#000000;\">&#8220;We are aware of the current situation regarding individual(s) claiming responsibility for hacking into a state of Alabama &#8230; public website,&#8221; Alabama Department of Homeland Security Director Spencer Collier said in the release.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#000000;\">Jack Doane, director of Alabama&#8217;s Information Services Division, told CNN later by e-mail that state technology experts &#8220;are conducting a forensic analysis to determine what if any information has been compromised.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#000000;\">It was not immediately clear what websites were hacked or who was responsible.
