James Coan and Lt. Daniel Davin &#8220;created a hostile environment for both their black detectives and suspected minority-group gun traffickers.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#000000;\">The NY Daily News reports:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#000000;\"><em>Davin used the N-word to address black suspects, while Coan considered the unit\u2019s minority-group targets almost subhuman, the depositions indicate.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#000000;\"><em>\u201cCapt. Coan would tell the field team . . . \u2018They are f&#8212;&#8211;g animals. You make sure if you have to shoot, you shoot them in the head. That way there\u2019s one story,\u2019 \u201d said the retired detective.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#000000;\"><em>The ex-cop, identified only as Undercover 7988, said Coan\u2019s racist rant came before every search warrant executed in Brooklyn\u2019s Brownsville, Bedford-Stuyvesant and East New York from 2008 to 2010.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#000000;\"><em>\u201cThey didn\u2019t care if it was kids in there, they didn\u2019t care if it was women in there, naked women,\u201d the detective said. \u201c. . . They treated them as if they had no rights whatsoever.
