More than two dozen\u00a0Israeli commandos attacked his heavily guarded home, \u201cincluding two agents who approached the house posing as a vacationing couple but carrying guns with silencers,\u201d\u00a0<span style=\"color:#0000ff;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/latimesblogs.latimes.com\/world_now\/2012\/11\/israel-admits-responsibility-1988-assassination-.html?utm_source=dlvr.it&amp;utm_medium=twitter&amp;dlvrit=326817\"><span style=\"color:#0000ff;\">reports<\/span><\/a><\/span>\u00a0the\u00a0<em>Los Angeles Times<\/em>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#000000;\">The killing was widely believe to have been carried out by Israel, although Israeli leadership refused to confirm or deny the accusations. The international community, including the United States, condemned the illegal assassination.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#000000;\">Wazir \u201cwas believed to have been behind numerous strikes against Israelis,\u201d reports the Times, \u201cincluding a 1978 bus-hijacking attack that killed 38 Israelis, and to have helped organize the 1987 Palestinian uprising known as the first Intifada from his base in Tunisia.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#000000;\">The admission confirms allegations that Israel\u2019s Mossad service in a lawless para-military group, and in fact raises more questions about whether or not Israel\u00a0<span style=\"color:#0000ff;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/original.antiwar.com\/avnery\/2012\/07\/08\/poisoning-arafat\/\"><span style=\"color:#0000ff;\">also killed Yasser Arafat<\/span><\/a><\/span>, who died in 2004 of mysterious causes.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#000000;\">Many have alleged that Arafat was poisoned, and laid blame on Israel.
