Misharawi&#8217;s brother was also injured.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#000000;\">Violence in Gaza has\u00a0<span style=\"color:#0000ff;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.huffingtonpost.com\/2012\/11\/15\/mideast-conflict-israeli-gaza-violence_n_2134659.html?utm_hp_ref=world\" target=\"_hplink\"><span style=\"color:#0000ff;\">intensified<\/span><\/a><\/span>\u00a0after Israel killed the military chief of Hamas on Wednesday. Omar was one of at least 15 Palestinians killed. Three Israelis have also died from rocket attacks.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#000000;\">Pictures of Misharawi holding Omar were splashed across front pages like the Washington Post&#8217;s on Thursday:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#000000;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/redphoenixnews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/o-bbc-gaza-570.jpg\"><span style=\"color:#000000;\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-15387\" title=\"o-BBC-GAZA-570\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/redphoenixnews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/o-bbc-gaza-570.jpg?resize=490%2C864\" height=\"864\" width=\"490\" \/><\/span><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#000000;\">Misharawi\u00a0<span style=\"color:#0000ff;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/world-middle-east-20340810\" target=\"_hplink\"><span style=\"color:#0000ff;\">spoke<\/span><\/a><\/span>\u00a0to a fellow BBC journalist while surrounded by a crowd of people.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#000000;\">&#8220;What did my son do to die like this?&#8221; he said. &#8220;What was his mistake? He is ten or eleven months old. What did he do?&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#000000;\">In a\u00a0<span style=\"color:#0000ff;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.telegraph.co.uk\/news\/worldnews\/middleeast\/israel\/9679461\/Baby-son-of-BBC-worker-killed-in-Gaza-strike.html\" target=\"_hplink\"><span style=\"color:#0000ff;\">statement<\/span><\/a><\/span>, the BBC said, &#8220;&#8221;Our thoughts are with Jihad and the rest of the team in Gaza. This is a particularly difficult moment for the whole bureau in Gaza. We&#8217;re fortunate to have such a committed and courageous team there.
