Idris Insists<\/span><\/h4>\n<div><strong><span style=\"color:#000000\">by Jason Ditz<\/span><\/strong><\/div>\n<div>\n<p><span style=\"color:#000000\">General Salim Idris, the Chief of Staff of the Syrian rebels\u2019 Supreme Military Council, reacted with anger toward the<\/span>\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/news.antiwar.com\/2013\/02\/27\/white-house-pledges-more-aid-to-syrian-rebels\/\"><span style=\"color:#0000ff\">US announcement<\/span>\u00a0<\/a><span style=\"color:#000000\">of additional aid for his forces, insisting that the promise of food rations and medical supplies were meaningless.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#000000\">\u201cWe don\u2019t want food and drink and we don\u2019t want bandages.<\/span><span style=\"color:#0000ff\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/8301-202_162-57572122\/syrian-rebel-chief-on-u.s-non-lethal-aid-the-only-thing-we-want-is-weapons\/\"><span style=\"color:#0000ff\">When we\u2019re wounded, we want to die. The only thing we want is weapons<\/span><\/a><span style=\"color:#000000\">,<\/span><\/span><span style=\"color:#000000\">\u201d Gen. Idris insisted in a telephone interview, adding that the \u201cwhole world\u201d knows he needs missiles, not food.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#000000\">Gen. Idris also denied receiving any of the weapons that the GCC have been openly sending to rebel factions, claiming that the FSA only has weapons looted from the Syrian military and is dealing with a \u201csevere shortage\u201d of ammunition.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#000000\">Rebels have been complaining about arms shortages from virtually the beginning of the war, and while various nations continue to smuggle arms in, they keep insisting they never get them.
