Syrian army has retaken control of last militant bastion near Qusayr, bringing its operation closer to a successful end in this region.<\/span><\/h3>\n

Government forces restored security in the village of Eastern Bweida on Saturday.<\/span><\/p>\n

On Friday, Syrian troops managed to retake control of several villages near Qusayr in Homs province.<\/span><\/p>\n

According to Syrian sources, the army pushed foreign-backed militants out of the central villages of Salhiyeh and Masoudiyeh, just north of Qusayr.<\/span><\/p>\n

Scores of militants are reported to have been killed in the clashes.<\/span><\/p>\n

The latest series of military successes come a day after government forces recaptured the nearby village of al-Daba\u2019a and retook control of a border crossing in the Golan Heights.<\/span><\/p>\n

Syrian troops established control over the key city of al-Qusayr on Wednesday following weeks of heavy clashes with militants.<\/span><\/p>\n

Qusayr, which lies 10km from the Lebanese border, was a major supply route for militants who have been conducting a war on Syria since March 2011.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Syrian Army is now in control of most of the towns and villages near the border with Lebanon.<\/span><\/p>\n

There have been reports of heavy clashes between government forces and militants in Aleppo, Latakia, Idlib, Deir Ezzor and several Damascus suburbs.<\/span><\/p>\n

According to Syria’s official news agency SANA, Saudi and Yemeni nationals were among those killed in Latakia clashes.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n
