(Reuters)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#000000\">Israel has agreed to return organs of dead Palestinians harvested by its forensic pathologists during autopsies, Palestinian Civil Affairs Minister Hussein al-Sheikh told Ma\u2019an news agency on Wednesday.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#000000\">Head of Israel\u2019s Abu Kabir forensic institute, Jehuda Hiss, had admitted harvesting organs from dead bodies without the permission of their families.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#000000\">\u201cWe started to harvest corneas \u2026 Whatever was done was highly informal. No permission was asked from the family,\u201d Hiss said in an interview with an American academic in 2000. The interview was released in 2010 and part of it was aired by Israel\u2019s Channel 2 TV.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#000000\">The Channel 2 report said forensic experts harvested bones, corneas, heart valves and skin from dead Israeli soldiers, citizens, Palestinians and even foreign workers.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#000000\">The Israeli army admitted to organ harvesting but said the practice was no longer performed.\u00a0\u201cThis activity ended a decade ago and does not happen any longer,\u201d the military told Channel 2.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#000000\">In the interview, Hiss described how his doctors would mask the removal of corneas from bodies. \u201cWe\u2019d glue the eyelid shut,\u201d he said. \u201cWe wouldn\u2019t take corneas from families we knew would open the eyelids,\u201d Associated Press reported.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#000000\">The Palestinian official said Israel will \u201csoon be returning some of the organs,\u201d Ma\u2019an reported.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#0000ff\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.globalresearch.ca\/israel-agrees-to-return-stolen-organs-of-dead-palestinians\/5358247\"><span style=\"color:#0000ff\">Fuente<\/span><\/a><\/span><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Palestinians carry the body of Jihad Aslan during his funeral at Qalandiya Refugee Camp near the West Bank city of Ramallah Aug. 26, 2013.
