Call from EMEP Party <\/span>Central <\/span>Executive Committee<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

No to <\/span>\u2018<\/span>one man, one party dictatorship<\/span>\u2019<\/span>!<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Let\u2019s<\/span> unite our forces and raise the struggle for a democratic constitution and a Parliament!…<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Following the referendum of 16 April 2017, in which the result <\/span>was <\/span>controversially declared as <\/span>a victory for \u2018<\/span>Yes<\/span>\u2019<\/span> by the YSK (Higher Election Commission)<\/span>, the construction of a regime of \u2018one man, one party\u2019<\/span> reached a new stage.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

At least half <\/span>de <\/span>the population <\/span>in<\/span> the country rejected the attempts to \u201cb<\/span>uild a new regime\u201d by President Erdo\u011fan, the AKP government and the <\/span>forces of capital that back them; w<\/span>ith their<\/span> <\/span>No<\/span><\/strong> <\/span>votes,<\/span> they <\/span>countered<\/span> estos<\/span> attempts.<\/span> At this point, the palace, government and their supporters <\/span>are trying to ride over the issue of legitimacy through <\/span>the State of Emergency (OHAL)<\/span>.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

This is the reason for attempts to normalise the continuation of OHAL and governing the country through <\/span>emergency decrees of law (<\/span>KHK<\/span>)<\/span>. OHAL is the main instrument <\/span>in<\/span> their attempts to <\/span>fulfil<\/span> political and social at<\/span>tacks on workers and the public; <\/span>terrorising public opposition and trying to prevent and shut it down by oppression<\/span>.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Media companies are <\/span>still <\/span>subjected to <\/span>fines and closures;<\/span> <\/span>opposition politicians and <\/span>journalists<\/span> are still <\/span>subjected to<\/span> <\/span>custody<\/span> <\/span>and detentions<\/span>. Oppression <\/span>of labour and removal of rights<\/span> <\/span>such as <\/span>redundancy pay and <\/span>the right to job security are intensified<\/span>. The <\/span>pit<\/span> the <\/span>country is dragged into by i<\/span>nternal and external war policies is deepening. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

In this political momentum, where the political future of the country will be shaped by international developments and the power struggle between the classes, the urgent duty of public opposition is to raise the struggle for winning democratic rights and political freedoms.<\/span><\/p>\n

To <\/span>put the position to be taken in the Presidential elections of 2019 as a duty in front of the \u2018No front\u2019<\/span>, in an environment where the legitimacy of 16 April referendum is discussed,<\/span> will only create a climate that enable the palace, government and their supporters to b<\/span>ring in any \u2018adjustment law<\/span>\u2019 they need on the way to<\/span> the \u2018one man, one party dictatorship\u2019<\/span>. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Taking these into consideration, our party call<\/span>s<\/span> on:<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

All labour, democratic and <\/span>progressive forces, including<\/span> political parties, labour and workers\u2019<\/span> organisations, women\u2019s, youth, environmental and <\/span>religious groups<\/span>,<\/span> to <\/span>unite<\/span> their forces<\/span> for a Constitution and a Parliament that will form the basis of a political system that <\/span>secures<\/span> <\/span>full <\/span>sovereignty of the people<\/span>;<\/span> <\/span>primarily<\/span>,<\/span> to ensure the removal of OHAL and <\/span>the cancellation of KHK\u2019s, <\/span>to <\/span>prevent further political and social attacks; <\/span>the\u00a0<\/span>democratic <\/span>solution <\/span>de <\/span>the Kurdish issue; freedom of <\/span>faith<\/span> y <\/span>establishing <\/span>real secularism; <\/span>protection of <\/span>immunity of property and individuals; freedom of speech, media and right to organise; the workers\u2019 and public\u2019s right to work, shelter, job security and a secure future<\/span>.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
