Comrade Vijay Singh has died

2–4 minutes
Camilo Lazo | National Chair of the American Party of Labor | Apr. 17, 2026–

Today we offer our tribute to a steadfast defender of revolutionary theory, a tireless editor, and a guardian of the historical memory of the international communist movement through the journal Revolutionary Democracy. Through decades of dedicated work, Comrade Vijay helped to build and sustain one of the few international forums committed to the rigorous defense of Marxism-Leninism against revisionism, opportunism, and historical distortion.

While we in the American Party of Labor acknowledge that we had differences and disagreements with Comrade Vijay Singh on certain positions he took, and that while these are differences that must be discussed and worked out in the course of struggle if our cause is to move forward, now is not the time to discuss them. Now is the time to pause and contemplate with solemnity and respect.

Most notably among his contributions to the movement, Comrade Singh oversaw the publication and dissemination of rare and essential archival materials, bringing to light documents and debates from the time of Comrade Lenin and Comrade Stalin that might otherwise have remained inaccessible to new generations of revolutionaries. Under his editorial leadership, Revolutionary Democracy has become a vital resource for historical truth, preserving the record of the international communist movement and reasserting the continuity of revolutionary theory in the face of ideological retreat following the betrayal of the 20th Congress of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union under Khrushchev.

Comrade Vijay Singh was unyielding in his critique of revisionism and in his defense of the principles of proletarian dictatorship, democratic centralism, and socialist construction. He engaged deeply with the major ideological struggles of the twentieth century, challenging the lines associated with Trotsky, Khrushchev, and Mao Zedong. Comrade Vijay contributed to the clarification of Marxist-Leninist positions through careful study, polemic, and documentation.

His work also extended to a critical and direct engagement with the communist movement in India, offering principled critiques of both parliamentary reformism and adventurist deviations, and insisting on the necessity of ideological clarity as the foundation of revolutionary practice.

Through his writings and editorial labors, Comrade Vijay Singh educated cadres, preserved the lessons of past struggles, and upheld the banner of Marxism-Leninism during a period marked by the disintegration of formerly socialist states and widespread ideological confusion.

His work stands as a testament to discipline, intellectual rigor, and unwavering commitment to the cause of the working class and of oppressed peoples everywhere.

Farewell, Comrade Vijay Singh. Those who struggle for socialism and historical truth will continue to learn from, and to be guided by, your contributions.
